Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC Look for Positives in Toyota Mekong Club Championship Final Defeat
Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC coach Vo Dinh Tan was determined to look at the positives after his side were beaten 7-1 on aggregate by SCG Muangthong United FC in the final of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2017.
Despite trailing 3-1 on aggregate from the first leg, Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC produced a spirited display in Saturday’s return encounter at the Supachalasai National Stadium.
However, they spurned a couple of excellent opportunities – including a penalty from Youssouf Toure – and ultimately paid the price as the hosts put four goals past them in the second half.
Nonetheless, Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC can be proud of their displays throughout over the past month having entered the tournament in the first round and seen off Boeung Ket FC and Lao Toyota FC to get this far.
And Dinh Tan believes there were many positives to take despite the disappointing end to the campaign.
“First of all, I want to say congratulations to Muangthong for winning,” said the Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC tactician.
“We started the game in a relaxed mood with no pressure and you could see that in the first-half performance.”
“However, we didn’t convert our opportunities and, when we lost a goal very early in the second half, it became very difficult to bounce back from there.”
“As I have said before, this is the first time Sanna Khanh Hoa are participating in an international tournament and we’ve reached the final.”
“This is a big honour for our team to play against Muangthong United and, for our young players, I hope they make the most of this great experience.”
“For the coming season, our goal is to achieve the best position possible in the V.League 1 so that we have a chance to participate in the TMCC again.”
