Lanexang United Will Represent Laos in Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016
Laos national team forward, Khampheng Sayavuthi scored a hat-trick and Lanexang United won the game against Lao Toyota FC with a 3-1 score-line. With this victory, Lanexang United won the LPL 2016 title and ended their three years long title chase. They will now represent Laos to play in the first-round of Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 (TMCC), first time in the history of Lanexang United to participate in this tournament.
On the 2nd October, Lanexang United played a home game against Lao Toyota FC at the Lanexang stadium, a very important game for both teams to win. Lanexang United took an early 2 goals lead from Khampheng on 9th minute and 30th minute before the end of the first-half. In the 60th minute of the second half, Lanexang got a free-kick near the box and Khampheng scored from the free kick to get his hat-trick goal by shooting through the wall to extend their lead by 3-0. On the 69th minute, Homma scored a consolation goal for Lao Toyota, but that was not enough for them to make a comeback before the referee blew the final whistle. Lanexang collected 70 points after this game, 6 points ahead of Lao Toyota FC with a game in hand to seal the title.
The final game for Lanexang United was played on 5th October and they defeated CSC Champa FC with a 3-2 score-line. Lanexang collected 73 points after 26 matches (Won: 24, Draw: 1 and Lost: 1) and finished the league in style as the champion of LPL 2016.
The Laos Premier League Award Ceremony was officially held after the match and the Champions Lanexang United celebrated their historic win during the trophy presentation. The TMCC 2016 media team was there to interview the hero of the match, ‘Khampheng Xaiyavoutthi’, about his thoughts on qualifying to their first ever TMCC 2016.
The striker praised his team and said, “I am proud of the team and the club, especially Lanexang’s Chairman who always works hard to take the club forward. Credits to the Chairman, who founded Lanexang United and now we can all achieve our dreams together. Qualifying to play in TMCC 2016 is very meaningful and important for us because the participation in this tournament certifies the hard work, unity and improvement of our team. As the representative from Laos, we will do our best.”
Khampheng also said, “Our team will fight head-to-head with the top teams from Mekong region and we definitely need to keep training hard, improving our game and also strengthening our team. We need some friendly matches before the TMCC starts, which would be essential for us to test our team’s preparedness and see how the team would respond to that. The objective of participating in TMCC is to do our best in every game both home and away, because this is a big opportunity for us to play internationally to test our skills among the best in the region.”
Finally, he had a special message to the fans and sponsors, “I would like to say thank you to the fans and our sponsors who have always supported our team until now. I would like to appeal to all fans and our supporters to keep supporting Lanexang United and become the 12th man of the team and fight together for the upcoming TMCC 2016. We hope to achieve our goals together and also help the development of football in Laos.”
Lanexang United will play against SHB Danang, representing Vietnam on 5th November at Chao Anouvong Stadium in the first-round of TMCC 2016 at the Laos capital, Vientiane. Lanexang will then travel for an away game to Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay in Myanmar, for their last match of the first-round games against Yadanarbon FC, the Champions of the Myanmar League on 27th November.
