Lanexang United Squad Trains Ahead of the Clash with Da Nang in the TMCC Opening Game
After a short-break of celebration for their first LPL 2016 title, Lanexang United is gearing up for training at Lanexang Training Centre, building and testing their preparedness before the TMCC 2016 first round clash with SHB Da Nang from Vietnam on 5th November at Chao Anouvong Stadium, the capital of Laos, Vientiane.
Since 12th October, the players have started reporting back at the Lanexang Indoor Training Centre. Their training starts with a physical check-up and a warm up session, then they continue their training session until late afternoon in the training ground and finish off with a light training session at Lanexang Stadium.
However, not the entire team is present at the training session. The notable absentees are the four main players, Thipphonexay Inthavong, Soukthavy Soundala (goalkeeper), Phutthaso Khochaler (midfielder) and Khonesavan Syhavong (forward) who are yet to join the training camp. These four players are away with the Laos national team participating in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 tournament between 15th – 21st October held in the Capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. They can start training with the team only after the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 ends.
In the beginning of October, Lanexang United striker Khampheng suffered an injury during AFC Asian Cup 2019 playoff game of Laos which they drew with Maldives with a 1-1 score-line. Khampheng had no choice but to withdraw from the Laos national squad. It took him a week for the recovery and now he is able to attend light training sessions at the Lanexang Training Centre.
In the last week’s training, Lanexang United focused on strengthening their players’ stamina by training in the fitness. This week, they have started to train in team tactics such as passing the ball, control and possession of the ball, scoring the goal and 10 minutes small sided games. The training will help to improve the players’ understanding of their teammates performance in different types of situations before facing the real match competition.
Mr. Leonardo Vitorino, the head coach of Lanexang United said,” We need to start training hard and improve on the weak points of the team, especially the problem with scoring goals and on the defensive line which the team needs to improve quickly. We have to keep training hard before facing them in early November. There is a big problem as we don’t have enough time to prepare the team because four of our main players are on the national duty with the Laos national squad. However, after their mission as a national team is completed, we can start training with a full team once again. At the end of October, we will have a friendly match with Laos national squad at Chao Anouvong Stadium to test the ground and gauge our preparedness as much as we can before the big game ahead.”
Although Lanexang United have surpassed one big challenge by becoming the Champion of LPL 2016, the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 is still a much tougher challenge. This competition will bring the top teams from the top Leagues in the Mekong region and Lanexang United is also one of the top teams of the league with no doubt about the quality of its players and teamwork. But it will not be an easy task for Lanexang United to win against their opponent teams and proceed to the next round. SHB Da Nang ended the season at third place in Vietnam League. They are one of the best teams in the Vietnam league and they also have many quality players in their team. Lanexang United will have to look out especially for the two players who can pose a threat to them during the game. The first one is the speedy Argentine forward who is deadly in front of goal and the second one is their midfielder who is very accurate with his free kicks. However, the head coach of Lanexang United believes that his players’ teamwork can overcome the challenge. They will stick to their strategy of attacking the opponent’s defensive line, which they have done best all this season. They must keep their spirits high and try their best to get the maximum points for the team.
